Keuken #1, in point of fact, was primarily financed by the method of pre-capitalistic economy, a plain Exchange. The ritual of the modern capitalistic-based system was particularly turned down, meanwhile the practice of utilitarian barter was massively involved, facilitating nearly 80% of its financial recourses. The accumulation of this such practice in which what locally called ‘udunan’, however, besides resulting efficient amount of production excess, has also pushed us to value our surroundings expertise and competence genuinely.

And this what also finally encountered Keuken with Nordhen Basic, a fashion brand that shares particular vision with Keuken in empowering local optimism. Nordhen Basic is Bandung based company that have been taking-in high integrity of ethical, social, and environmental values to the field of home industry fashion since the year of 2009. In this regard, Nordhen Basic teamed up to embrace the afore mentioned mission by way of providing series of well-tailored half-length cooking apron to be used by related tennats/chefs during or after the event.

Subsequent to their generous service and product, Keuken, beside affording to them a 1 to 1 branding instruments during the event, is also excited to extend the amount of the shared-vision, again, through the production of video documentation. Handhyanto Hardian, who is responsible to this concern, found it really really amazing. As a result, a 2 minutes video by Handhyanto Hardian is now ready to reveal all the beauty that touches on the spirit of the local empowerment as well as the spirit of Keuken and Nordhen Basic odd collaboration, an apron.

Febian Nurrahman Saktinegara, or Embi has been and (hopefully) continues to play the most important role for Keuken. Along with his Canon 5D MK II, Embi has collaborated his genius cinematic insights with Keuken project documentation team led by Handhyanto Hardian since the early grounding of the Project.

Little things we believe, Digital media is providing major advantages for us to spread our ideas in a better and a rather open archiving platform. Starting on the making of Surprise Stoves #1, we’ve been working together to set our ‘productivity’ to a long term investment -that with any good intentions- can be easily achieved and evaluated by different generations via this relatively friendly medium called video, in the near future.

Its been an absolute pleasure working with, and learning from these young and talented artists like Embi and Handhy. And here now we’ve got the warming up video called the unofficial video of A Day at Keuken #1, exclusively made right from the eyes and hands of Embi, happy viewing!

It’s like emotionally overload… the moment you fall in love with everything all at once: The street, the trees, the people with sunglasses, the people who cooked, thus the foods, the cupcakes, the hanging lamps, the barbeques, the grills, and of course the music.

It was all good vibes in each of its session, but the moment that I remember the most is when the day turned to the date night, and DJ Anto showed up next to Chef Pandjalu. DJ Anto was warming up the street while Pandjalu (with his you-have-to-see-damn!-that-was-really-really-neat kitchen set) started to cook the most experimental menus of the day; and Anto took the build up through such 70’s black music hits that deadly fit the street heat and keeping it solidly ‘black’ until the end of the cooking. MJ’s Blame it on the Boogie, the Van McCoy’s anthem The Hustle, Esther Phillips cover of Gil scott-heron’s, and clearly we are thankful to Mr. Anto for taking it all back to cool with Marvin Gaye’s whilst at the time people were also get relaxed, making a peaceful line craving for Pandjalu’s final tastes. Such Delightful..

Now let’s prepare the next street’s good times, and make sure you’re getting more comfortable to screw the diet, and yes, to dance, because yes, we know… you want it so bad. Come on. :)

Reclaim the street, eat! Hence, Dance!
